We have arrived! Can you believe it? The NCAA Tournament is actually upon us! I cannot wait for today’s first round matchups. All week, we’ve been looking at the bracket. For my coaches out there who have their teams in the tournament, I know you all have been preparing like crazy for today. The same goes for the student-athletes, getting ready to play in “March Madness”. For some of them, this is their first time getting to play in D-III’s version of “The Big Dance”. I counted 26 teams in this year’s tournament field who were not there last year. Pretty special.
There is so much to look forward to. Dave McHugh did a fantastic show on Hoopsville last night, and as it relates to WBB, spoke with Matt Dempsey, HC at Merchant Marine, Judy Blinstrub, HC at Babson, and Megan Bauman, Babson’s senior guard. All 3 were great interviews. I’d highly recommend checking that out! By the way, if you can give to Hoopsville’s fundraising campaign, I’d highly recommend doing so. The coverage that Dave provides for D3 hoops, and the platform he gives student-athletes and coaches on the show is indescribable. Help Hoopsville’s fundraising campaign get to $10,000!

To read a preview of the tournament (well-written by Gordon Mann…as always), take a look here! His pick to cut down the nets in Dallas? It’s a pretty familiar name!

I had a feature on my own on D3hoops.com, as I had the opportunity to talk with Smith HC Lynn Hersey and senior forward Morgan Morrison earlier this week. Really enjoyed both of those conversations. Smith is the top seed in this tournament for a reason, and certainly a team we could see playing in Dallas here in about a month.

THE ROAD TO DALLAS BEGINS NOW!!!
P.S- I took a look at the entire bracket when it was revealed. Check out that post here! Also, follow me on Twitter for more D3 WBB content/analysis/updates…@ZayasRiley.
You've written about it and I'm biased (Trinity fan), but the storylines are many here in San Antonio this weekend. Cinderella UT-Dallas, revenge-minded Hardin-Simmons, outlier Redlands, and somewhat schizophrenic Trinity. Apart from Redlands, it's hard to imagine more familiarity among the teams and coaches. Trinity is picking up the tab for student tickets and giving out 300 shirts. Combined with already strong fan support and playing a Texas team, it could be standing room attendance tonight.
Doesn't get any better!
