February 27, 2023: Selection Monday...here we come!
Just checking in on this Monday morning as we prepare for the selection show at 2:30 p.m. EST today! What a great day this is in D3 hoops, though I also know that a lot of coaches, student-athletes, fans, administrators, parents associated with the so-called “bubble” teams are sitting very worried right now. We’ll have to see what happens this afternoon, though I will say that I feel like we did a pretty good job on our mock selections on Hoopsville for Pool B and Pool C.
I will link the show here, as Scott Peterson, Gordon Mann, Dave McHugh and myself spent nearly 2 hours discussing our picks (as a collective group) and while this wasn’t an easy process, I think we feel pretty confident about all of our picks, except maybe that last one there. Have a look!

The hope is to have gotten all 20 correct. We will see. But if you’re listed within that great, odds are you have a pretty good chance of getting in. Obviously we don’t have all the data that the committee is looking at, nor do we have Week 4 Regional Rankings. But we did our best to simulate what those Week 4 regional rankings look like.
We also will cast one more Top 25 ballot for D3hoops.com, the final one before the postseason poll is done following the national title game in Dallas in early April. I don’t have my ballot done right now, but will post it to Twitter this afternoon (@ZayasRiley), and I can put it up in tomorrow’s post, though I probably won’t do much of a breakdown. NCAA Tournament stuff is more important right now anyway!
Make sure you log on right at 2:30 EST for the WBB show (or even a few minutes early) and keep refreshing the page until the live stream comes available. That will give you the most updated version of it, as the system doesn’t allow you to skip to the middle of the show even if you log on midway through (at least from my past experience). Anyway, hope everyone is doing well. Lots of AQs were clinched over the weekend, and in total, I believe I ended up getting 24 of the conference tournament winners correct.
Excited to check out the bracket this afternoon! Stay tuned on Twitter and on D3hoops.com for the live stream link to the Selection Show. If you have any questions/feedback, email me at rileyzayas@gmail.com or DM me on Twitter (@ZayasRiley).
